We've selected some of the most beautiful dog-friendly beaches on the North Sea coast. Discover the perfect beach setting for you. With a few essentials, your beach holiday with your dog will be a resounding success. The most important thing at the beach is that your dog has plenty to do. Therefore, make sure you pack enough activities for your four-legged friend.

Dog beaches in Sankt Peter-Ording

There are two dog beaches on the north beach in Sankt Peter-Ording. Here, you can let your dog run off-leash in two designated areas. The first dog beach is located at the Ording North dog exercise area, and the second at the Bad dog exercise area. Here, your four-legged friend can play extensively in the water and on land. Parking is available near both dog beaches. If your furry friend gets a little too warm, you'll find several marked beach chair platforms in Sankt Peter-Ording where you can relax in peace.

Dog beaches on Föhr

Do you and your dog enjoy peace and quiet? Then Föhr is the perfect island for you! The island boasts six dog beaches. One of the most beautiful dog beaches on Föhr is the one in Utersum . This fine sandy beach offers ample space for long walks and plenty of room to romp around.

Further south in Nieblum are two more dog-friendly beaches . These two beaches are situated amidst a dune landscape. Thanks to the adjacent mudflats, long walks along the beach are a must. Several cafes and restaurants are located nearby.

Dog beaches on Sylt

Sylt is the perfect island for a North Sea holiday with your dog. With 15 designated dog beaches, Sylt is a paradise for dogs. From Hörnum in the south to List in the north, you'll find plenty of dog-friendly beaches. The dog beach in Rantum boasts a wide sandy beach surrounded by dunes.

Another beautiful dog beach on Sylt is the one in List . This dog beach is very clean, has fine sand, and boasts a lovely atmosphere. If you prefer a quieter setting, this beach is perfect for you. Dog beaches in Büsum

Along the Büsum dike, you can take a long walk with your four-legged friend. You'll find two dog beaches here where your two-legged companion is warmly welcomed. At the northern beach section, near access points 1 and 2, there's a set of steps from which your dog can jump into the cool water. A leash suitable for use in the water is recommended. A water leash floats and can get wet.

The second dog beach is located in the southern section, at access point 14. Beach chairs are available for rent at both sections. Your dog can play and run around in the adjacent mudflats.

Dog beaches in Husum

A slightly smaller dog beach is located near the town center of Husum. From here, your four-legged friend can stroll directly onto the mudflats. Dogs must be kept on a leash at the Dockkoog dog beach . The beach is directly adjacent to the main bathing beach. You can rent a beach chair, and there's also a café nearby. For long days at the beach, remember to pack plenty of treats and water for your dog. A travel-sized water bottle and a collapsible travel bowl are perfect beach companions, as they are easy to pack.

Dog beaches on Wangerooge

You can reach the island of Wangerooge by ferry. For the crossing, it's best to use a carrier bag to ensure your dog arrives safely. The dog beach in Wangerooge is located behind the eastern bathing area. You can also rent a beach chair there. Because Wangerooge is situated in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, it's especially important not to disturb the local flora and fauna, which is why dogs must be kept on a leash. Nevertheless, you and your four-legged friend will be able to enjoy your holiday and the beautiful natural surroundings.

Dog beaches on Borkum

On the island of Borkum, you'll find three dog-friendly beaches. Our favorite is the dog beach at Südbad (South Beach), as it's a bit quieter and offers a great view of the nearby lighthouse. The water is shallow, making it easy for your dog to play. You'll find fine sand and some parking available. If you're lucky and arrive at the right time, your dog might even be allowed to run off-leash. Remember to bring plenty oftoys and activities for your dog.

Dog beaches on Norderney

Anyone researching Norderney will often read that the island is a dog paradise. We can confirm this, as you'll find everything your dog needs here. Besides the fantastic dog park south of the town center , Norderney boasts three dog beaches . One of these is located near the white dune. A kiosk is nearby, and beach chair rentals are also available.

Dog beaches in Cuxhaven

Sahlenburg beach is popular with dog owners due to its location, being perfectly situated directly on the Wadden Sea and not far from the large campsite. A walk in the Wadden Sea is highly recommended. For longer distances, a dog backpack is a good idea in case your furry friend gets tired of walking. The dog beach also boasts fine sand.

Another highlight is the dog beach in Altenbruch , where you can watch the ships go by. If you prefer a less sandy beach, this is the perfect spot for you and your dog, as it's a grassy area. Not far away is the lighthouse, where you and your four-legged friend can enjoy a fantastic view – dogs are welcome there.

Dog beach in Dorum Neufeld

A dog beach in Dorum Neufeld is located on the Wurster North Sea coast . Here you can rent a beach chair and your dog has direct access to the Wadden Sea. Cafés and parking are available nearby.
